Baker, pastry chef, entrepreneur Bernhard Blecken is a German native who was born in Luneburg and lived there 42 years. After working as a mechanical engineer for 20 years in the corporate world, he had decided to change his career and pursue his lifetime passion, which is baking. He left all the benefits of white collar world and moved to Atlanta in 1999 to start his new career. His aim was – always is – to provide the authentic taste of German baked goods to the Atlanta people.
After first settling in Duluth, GA Bernhard Blecken soon established a bakery in his name that would become one of the most well-known, well-respected German bakeries in Atlanta. Currently, his bakery is located in Marietta, Ga and has been a popular spot for customers – not just from Atlanta but from all over the South East –looking for an authentic German taste.
Bernhard Blecken is a self made man with regard to baking career. He devotes all his time and energy to his business to offer the best. His motto is “to do the best or not to do at all”. Not to mention, everything in his bakery is baked with passion & love. His day starts at 2:30 a.m. in order to provide his customers the freshets breads and pastries every morning. Not surprisingly, you can always find Bernhard at his bakery, mostly in the kitchen.
